Easter 2006
As one ages, the many changes includes having 'reality' slowly vaporize. Soon it will be gone altogether. In its place we hope new perspectives will show themselves.
This morning I recalled one, a sense of wonder---which is still with me after all these years. True, this morning, Easter, is what some would term glorious. The Eastern dogwood is pretty much at its peak bloom, the Judas tree is fading, but the temp is in the shirtsleeve (short) range, the sky is clear & sunny, & the bluebird pair is busy in their new home out in front of our house.
And wonder evidently just keeps on growing. I for one have never quite gotten used to the work of Joseph Conrad, mainly his 'Nigger of the Narcissus.' But all of his writing is astounding & the wonder comes to me from the realization his early years were in the Polish language. Yet, somehow, he made the switch & produced some writing which is world class. I can only wonder.
